About
FBI Special Agent Christopher Mills testified for the prosecution on Day 20 about the March 27, 2018 search of 8 Hale Drive in Halfmoon, New York. He assisted with evidence collection and documentation and took photographs. Under questioning by Tanya Hajjar, he described the residence and identified search records and recovered devices. The court admitted the residence sketch, photo log, photograph disk, camera, camera card, and two hard drives without objection.
Mills explained where devices were recovered and walked jurors through photographs documenting the search. He confirmed seeing materials addressed to Keith Raniere and said whiteboard writing shown in a video still appeared largely unchanged from what he saw during the search. His testimony established recovery and identification, not the devices' digital contents: he described their referral to the FBI's Computer Analysis Response Team and said he had no further involvement in searching them.
On cross-examination, Mills confirmed personally collecting two devices but could not remember whether either was plugged in. He clarified that investigators seized some books as well as electronic devices, correcting the suggestion that only electronics were taken. He also declined to adopt counsel's suggested reading of writing on a desk item. The government declined further questioning, and Mills was excused.
