About
Jane Doe gave a victim impact statement under a pseudonym at Raniere's October 27, 2020 sentencing hearing. She described joining DOS while intimately involved with Raniere, providing sexual collateral and later leaving the group after what she characterized as blackmail.
She said she knew Raniere was DOS's grand master when she joined. According to her statement, requests for more collateral and absolute obedience replaced the promised instruction. She identified Daniela Padilla as the person who used her collateral against her. Although the collateral was not released after she left, she described continuing fear of its disclosure and said Raniere tried for months to persuade her to return.
Jane Doe described panic attacks, shame and lasting difficulty trusting others. Addressing Raniere directly, she accused him of exploiting her love, hopes of motherhood and commitment to helping others, and said he deserved imprisonment.
