Nicki Clyne
First-line DOS member.
About
Lauren Salzman identified Nicki Clyne as a first-line DOS member under Keith Raniere and named her among those with whom Salzman said she committed DOS-related crimes involving collateral and false pretenses. Salzman recounted Clyne saying she initially believed her master-slave commitment with Raniere was exclusive before learning about other women. She also testified that Clyne married Allison Mack while Salzman believed Clyne was romantically involved with Raniere. During playback of DOS recordings, Salzman identified Clyne's voice discussing questionnaires and a recruitment game that Salzman described as gathering information and leading toward a lifetime commitment secured by collateral.
Clyne also appeared in testimony about the response to DOS becoming public. Salzman said Clyne requested diagrams presenting alternative explanations for the brand for a reporter; the court admitted Salzman's drawings as Government Exhibit 436. Salzman described those explanations as misrepresenting a brand containing Raniere's initials. She further testified that Clyne treated Salzman's distress over a proposed sexual recommitment ceremony as a personal issue to work through. Addressing the whereabouts of DOS materials, Salzman said she left a hard drive containing collateral and phones with Clyne in Mexico and had not recovered them despite requests through counsel. She believed Clyne left the drive with Jack Levy and assumed he had the phones, rather than claiming direct knowledge of their current location.
