Sarah Edmondson delivered a recorded video statement at sentencing, accusing Raniere of attempted blackmail and exploitation and describing surgery to remove his initials from her body. Her treatment after leaving NXIVM also became an issue in competing sentencing arguments about retaliation.

Former NXIVM member who spoke at Keith Raniere's sentencing.
About
Sarah Edmondson addressed Raniere through a recorded video statement presented at sentencing on Day 29. She framed her remarks as a survivor statement rather than a victim-impact statement and accused him of trying to separate her from her husband, blackmail her and enslave her.
Edmondson said she had undergone plastic surgery to remove the brand of Raniere's initials from her body. She accused him of exploiting other people's trust in her to recruit women for his benefit and criticized his failure to accept responsibility. She concluded by thanking the court and expressing the hope that he would never return to public life.
Her treatment after leaving NXIVM also figured in sentencing arguments. Defense counsel Marc Agnifilo alleged that she had changed computer files to prevent billing people she wanted to leave the organization, while acknowledging that no criminal charges followed in Vancouver. The judge questioned whether lawyer involvement answered concerns about litigation-backed harassment. Prosecutor Tanya Hajjar rejected the defense justification for threatening letters and attempts to bring criminal charges against Edmondson and DOS victims.
